Mural, Mural on the wall…

As long as man has walked the earth he has communicated with wall drawings and scrawling’s. Murals we know today evolved from early graffiti dating back to ancient times. Originally a means of basic communication and storytelling graffiti takes many forms and murals are simply one form or style. The word graffiti tends to be unpopular today as it conjures thought of decay and blight.

The word mural makes this art form an acceptable way of storytelling usually on a large scale, while graffiti has come to mean tagging causing fear and distrust since it is often used by gangs. Today graffiti is part of many cities rebirth. It has since evolved into a pop culture….and at least in Fresno, seems to be strongly related to the rebirth of neighborhoods.

Throughout the city we have vibrant art murals and we’ve put together a self-guided tour called Mural Mural on the Wall exploring our cities murals from the adventure in Mozart’s Magic Flute to a masterful rendition of the undersea world of jellyfish and everything in between! Why not order a few for Christmas? Just email the office with your name and number. We’ll call you for your address and shipping arrangement. Its that simple. No mall. no hours of shopping. Just $10 a copy.
Any why not join us for the next adventure through the cultural art district and some murals yourself? Sat 12/10 10a-12n advance reservations required on Brown Paper Tickets.
